If x=2y into −4x+11y=15, what are x, and y?

Given system of equations:

x = 2y ---(1)

-4x+11y=15 ---(2)

substitute x = 2y in equation (2), we get

-4(2y)+11y=15

=> -8y+11y = 15

=> 3y = 15

=> y = 15/3

=> y = 5

Now , put y = 5 in equation (1),

we get

x = 2×5

=> x = 10

Therefore,

x = 10, y = 5
