If x=√3+1, then how do I find the value of (x+2/x)²?

                = x² + 4 + 4/x²

                = (√3+1)² + 4 + 4/x²

                = 3 + 2√3 + 1 + 4 + 4/(3 + 2√3 + 1 )

                = 8 + 2√3 + 4/4 + 2√3

                = (8 + 2√3)(4 + 2√3 ) + 4/ 4 + 2√3

                = 48 + 24√3/4 + 2√3

               = 24( 2 +√3)/2( 2 +√3)

               = 12
