$p( \frac{3}{2} ) = 2 \times \frac{3}{2} + \frac{3}{2} k - 12 = 0$

$3 + \frac{3}{2} k = 12$

$\frac{3}{2} k = 9$

$k = 9 \times \frac{2}{3}$

$k = 6$
