Answer:

(x-3) and (x -1/3)are factors of ax^2 + 5x + b    

f ( x ) = a x^2 + 5x + b  

f( 3 )= 0  and f( 1/3 ) = 0

f( 3 ) = a ( 3) ^2 + 5 * 3 + b = 0

9 a + 15 + b = 0

9a + b = -15 --------------------------1

f( 1/ 3 ) = a ( 1/3 ) ^ 2 + 5 * 1/3 + b = 0

a / 9 + 5 / 3 + b= 0            

a / 9 + b = - 5/ 3

a + 9 b = - 5 * 9 / 3

a + 9 b = - 15--------------------------2

9a + b = a + 9 b

9a - a = 9b - b

8a = 8 b

a = b

HENCE PROVED
