Answer:

1

Step-by-step explanation:

If x+3 is a factor than x=-3

P(x)= x²+5ax+6a

P(-3)=> 3²-15a+6a=0

     => 9-9a=0

     =>9=9a

    =>a=1

Given : x + 3 is a factor of x²+ 5ax +6a

To Find : value of a

(A) 2

(B) 1

(C) -1

(D) 3

Solution:

x + 3 is a factor of x²+ 5ax +6a

=> x = - 3  , f(x) = 0

=>  (-3)²+ 5a(-3) +6a  = 0

=> 9 - 15a + 6a = 0

=> 9 - 9a = 0

=> 9a = 9

=>  a = 1

value of a is 1

Verification

a = 1

=>  x²+ 5x +6  = (x + 3)(x + 2)
