x = 3
then

so

9-6-6k = 0
3= 6k
k = 3/6
k = 1/2
then
so
9-6-6k = 0
3= 6k
k = 3/6
k = 1/2

Hey friend...
x=3
& x^2 -2kx-6=0
Putting x=3 in given quadratic equation...
_________________________________________
=>(3)^2 -2(3)k-6=0
=> 9 -6k -6 =0
=> 3 -6k =0
=> -6k = -3
=> k = 1/2
So,the value of k is 1/2
