ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION:

x = 3 is one of the roots of the quadratic equation :

 {x}^{2}  - 2kx - 6 = 0 \\
i.e.,

 {(3)}^{2}  - 2(3)k - 6 = 0 \\ 9 - 6k - 6 = 0 \\ 3 - 6k = 0 \\  - 6k =  - 3 \\ 6k = 3 \\ k =  \frac{3}{6}  \\ k =  \frac{1}{2}
•°•, k = 1/2

Solution -    \\ x = 3 \: is \: given \: in \: question \\ and \: we \: have \: {x}^{2} - 2kx - 6 = 0 \\ so \\ = > {x}^{2} - 2kx - 6 = 0 \\ = > ( {3})^{2} - 2k \times (3) - 6 = 0 \\ = > 9 - 6k - 6 = 0 \\ 3k - 6 = 0 \\ then \\ 3k - 6 = 0 \\ - 6k = - 3 \\ 6k = 3 \\ k = \frac{3}{6} \\ k = \frac{1}{2} answer
