Answer :-

\large{\underline{\boxed{\sf k = 14}}}

Solution :-

f(x) = 3x² + kx + 8 is a factor of linear polynomial (x + 4)

At first, we will find out the zero of the linear polynomial (x + 4)

=> x + 4 = 0

=> x = - 4

As we know f(x) is a factor of (x + 4) :-

=> 3x² + kx + 8 = 0

Putting the value of x in 3x² + kx + 8, we get :-

=> 3(-4)² + k(-4) + 8 = 0

=> 3 × 16 + (-4k) + 8 = 0

=> 48 - 4k + 8 = 0

=> 56 - 4k = 0

=> -4k = - 56

=> 4k = 56

=> k = 56/4

=> k = 14

Hence, the value of k is 14 respectively.
