=

 \frac{(5 \times 3) + (1 \times 4)}{12} \\  =  \frac{15 + 4}{12}  \\  =  \frac{19}{12}

 =  \frac{x + y}{x - y}

 =  \frac{ \frac{1}{2} +  \frac{5}{4}  }{  \frac{1}{2}   -  \frac{5}{4}  }

 =  \frac{ \frac{2 + 5}{4} }{ \frac{2 - 5}{4} }

 =  \frac{7}{1}  \times  \frac{1}{3}

 =  -  \frac{7}{3}
