Answer:

(x+7) / (x-1) =9

x+7/x-1 =9

x+7=9(x-1)

x+7=9x-9

x-9x=-9-7

-8x= -16

x= -8/-16

x=8/16

x=2

\huge\bf{To~solve~:}

\sf \frac{x + 7}{x - 1}  = 9 \\ \sf By \: cross \: multiplication, \: we \: get:  \\ \sf x + 7 = 9(x - 1) \\ \sf x + 7 = 9x - 9 \\ \sf x - 9x =  - 9 - 7 \\ \sf - 8x =  - 16 \\ \sf 8x = 16 \\ \sf x =  \frac{16}{8}  \\ \sf x = 2
