Answer:

As x=a and y=b then

⇒a−b=2............(1)

⇒a+b=4............(2)

Adding eq 1 and eq 2

⇒2a=6

⇒a= 6/2 =3

Substitute the value of a in eq 1

⇒3−b=2

⇒−b=2−3

⇒b=1

Hence the value of a=3 and b=1
