EXPLANATION.

⇒ x = a  and  y = b.

⇒ 3x - y = 2. - - - - - (1).

⇒ 4x + 7y = 11. - - - - - (2).

As we know that,

From equation (1) and (2),

Multiply equation (1) by 7.

Multiply equation (2) by 1.

⇒ 3x - y = 2. - - - - - (1).  x  7

⇒ 4x + 7y = 11. - - - - - (2).  x  1.

We get,

⇒ 21x - 7y = 14.

⇒ 4x + 7y = 11.

Adding both the equation, we get.

⇒ 25x = 25.

⇒ x = 1.

Put the value of x = 1 in the equation (2), we get.

⇒ 4x + 7y = 11.

⇒ 4(1) + 7y = 11.

⇒ 4 + 7y = 11.

⇒ 7y = 11 - 4.

⇒ 7y = 7.

⇒ y = 1.

To find :

Value of a and b.

⇒ x = a.

⇒ a = 1.

⇒ y = b.

⇒ b = 1.

Values of a = 1   and   b = 1.

Explaination.

⇒ x = a and y = b.

⇒ 3x - y = 2. - - - - - (1).

⇒4x + 7y = 11.- - - - - (2).

As we know that,

From equation (1) and (2),
