x + y = 4. --------eq2

x = 2 + y. (from eq 1)

putting x = 2 + y in equation 2 :-

x + y = 4 => 2 + y + y = 4

2y = 4/2 => y = 2/2

y = 1

putting y=1 in eq 1 :-

x - y = 2 => x - 1 = 2

x = 2 + 1

x = 3

x=a and y=b. (given)

=> a = 3

=> b = 1
