Given,a+b=4-----------(1)
a-b=2---------(2)
Adding (1) and (2),
2a=6
a=3
Substituting 'a' in (1),
3+b=4
⇒b=4-3
b=1

It is given

X = a
Y = b

So,

a + b = 4 ------(1)                           (Adding both equations)
a - b = 2--------(2)
________________
∴2a = 6
∴ a = 3

Putting a=3 in (1)
∴3 + b = 4
b = 1
