Given :-

Two sets X = { a , b , c , d } and Y = { f , b , d , g }

To Find :-

i) X U Y

ii) X ∩ Y

iii) X - Y

Used Concepts :-

  • X U Y is the set consisting all elements belongs to both X and B .
  • X ∩ Y is the set consisting all the common elements of X and Y .
  • X - Y is the set of all elements which belongs to X but not to Y .
  • If in X and Y one element is more than one times than it roster form it is written only once .

Solution :-

Here , X = { a , b , c , d }

Y = { f , b , d , g }

i ) :-

Therefore , X U Y = { a , b , c , d , f , g } .

ii) :-

X ∩ Y = { b , d }

Because b and d both are common in X and Y .

iii) X - Y :-

X - Y = { a , c }

Because Here b and d belongs to Y , but we want only those elements which belongs to X but not to Y .
