if (x+a) is a common factor of both than remainder should be equal

X+a = 0

x = (-a)

case (1)

f(-a) = a² -pa + q

case (2)

f(-a) = a² -ma + n

remainder equal .

a² -pa + q = a² -ma + n

ma - pa = (n - q)

a (m - p) = (n - q)

(n - q)/(m - p) = a [Ans.]
