Given that ( x - a ) is the factor of 2x² - mx + na
So, x - a = 0
x = a
Then,
p( x ) => 2x² - mx + na = 0
p( a ) => 2( a )² - m( a ) + na = 0
= > 2a² - ma + na = 0
= > a( 2a - m + a ) = 0
=> 2a - m + n = 0
= > 2a = m - n
Hence, proved.
So, x - a = 0
x = a
Then,
p( x ) => 2x² - mx + na = 0
p( a ) => 2( a )² - m( a ) + na = 0
= > 2a² - ma + na = 0
= > a( 2a - m + a ) = 0
=> 2a - m + n = 0
= > 2a = m - n
Hence, proved.
