Substitute the value for x and y such that you get a^2×sin^2/a^2 + b^2×cos^2/b^2

cancel a^2 and b^2

you will get

sin^2 +cos^2

(sin^2 + cos^2 =1)

1

hence proved if you want any more help pls ask
