if x =a ,y = b , is the solution of the pair of equation x -y =2 and x +y = 9 then find the value of a and b

Given, x =a ,y = b , is the solution of the pair of equation x -y =2 and x +y = 9.

so, a - b = 2 .......(1)

& a + b = 9 .......(2)

adding equation (1) & (2) , we get

a-b+a+b = 9+2

=> 2a = 11

=> a = 11/2 = 5.5

put this value in equation (2) , we get

5.5 + b = 9

=> b = 9 - 5.5 = 3.5


hence a = 5.5 and b = 3.5
