\large\rm{ y \neq -1}

Confused why? Let's verify.

\large\rm{ \dfrac{y}{x} = x}

multiplying both sides by x,

\large\rm{ \dfrac{y}{x} \times x = x \times x}

\large\rm{ \dfrac{y}{\cancel{x}} \times \cancel{x} = x^{2}}

\large\rm{ y = x^{2}}

we know that if there is , then its value can't be less than 0.

\large\rm{ y = x^{2} \geqslant 0}

\large\boxed{\rm{ \therefore y \neq -1}}
