If x and y are the zeros of the quadratic polynomial x 2 -5x+k such that (x-y)=1. Find the value of k.

For the equation to have two distinct roots, its discriminant should be greater than 0
=> B^2 - 4 AC > 0
=> (-2)^2 - 4k> 0
=>4 - 4k> 0
=> k < 1
