$\frac{x}{y} = \frac{18}{8} ...............(i) \\ \\ \frac{x}{y} = \frac{x}{16} ...............(ii) \\ \\ from \: (i) \: and \: (ii)we \: have \: \\ \\ = > \frac{18}{8} = \frac{x}{16} \\ \\ = > x = 36$
