Given Question :-

  • If x = a sinθ and y = b cosθ, eliminate θ.

Solution :-

\sf \:  x = a \: sinθ

\sf \:  ⟼sinθ = \dfrac{x}{a}  \: \sf \:  ⟼(1)

\sf \:  y = b \: cosθ

\sf \:  ⟼cosθ = \dfrac{y}{b} \sf \:  ⟼(2)

Squaring (1) and (2) and add, we get

\sf \:   {sin}^{2} θ +  {cos}^{2} θ =  {(\dfrac{x}{a} )}^{2}  +  {(\dfrac{y}{b} )}^{2}

\bf\implies \:{(\dfrac{x}{a} )}^{2}  +  {(\dfrac{y}{b} )}^{2}  = 1
