The value of x²-y² = 1.

  • Given :

x cosθ = 1 and tanθ = y

x = 1/cosθ

x = secθ     (Equation 1)

AND

tanθ = y

  • Now we have to find the value of x²-y²,
  • Substituting the value of x and y from the result obtained,

x²-y² = (secθ)² - (tanθ)²

= sec²θ - tan²θ

  • We know the identity sec²θ - tan²θ =1

∴ x²-y² = 1
