Variation:

• If x and y are directly varying to each . other, then x x y. Thus x = ky, where k is constant of variation.

• If x and y are inversely varying to each . other, then x < 1/y. Thus x = k/y, where k is constant of variation.

Solution:

Given that, x and y vary inversely.

Then x < 1/y x

or, x = k/y, where k is constant of variation

When y = 35 and k = 7

x = 7/35 = 1/5

Hence the value of x is 1/5.
