In case of this sum. 1 important tip that

x% = x/100. Keeping this in mind the mathematical equation for the above question becomes.

x =( 80/100) y.

Now if you cross multiply to keep on y on either LHS or RHS. Then

Y = x(100/80)

i.e y = x(5/4)

In order to get the percentage we need 100 in denominator So multiply and divide 5/4 with 25 we get

Y = (125/100)x

i.e y = 125% of x

Given,

X is 45% more than y

So, if we take y as 100

X is 145

X-y = 145-100

= 45

X-y/y = 45/ 100

= 0.45
