if x is equal to under root 3 + 1 upon under root 3 minus 1 and Y is equal to under root 3 minus one upon under root 3 + 1 find the value of x square + X y minus Y square

X = √(3+1)/√(3-1)
=√4/√2
=√2
Y = √(3-1)/√(3+1)
=√2/√4
=1/√2
X^2 + XY - Y^2 =
(√2)^2 + (√2)(1/√2) -(1/√2)^2
=2+1 -1/2
= 3 + 1/2
= 7/2
