Answer:

-3/2 & -1

Step-by-step explanation:

 {a}^{2} x + ay + 3 = 0

Substituting x and y,

2 {a}^{2}  + 5a + 3 = 0

Factorising the equation using Splitting the middle term will give:

2 {a}^{2}  + 2a  + 3a + 3

2a(a + 1) + 3(a + 1)

(2a + 3)(a + 1) = 0

Since the answer is 0, either of the two brackets should be 0. Hence, such questions MAY have two solutions.

2a + 3 = 0

a =  \frac{ - 3}{2}

And

a + 1 = 0

a  =  - 1

Hence,

a = -3/2 & -1
