If a rational number is added or subtracted with an irrational number then the sum is also irrational.
For ex √2 is irrational let it be y
x be 2
Then 2 + √2 =
2 + 1.414.........
= 3.414........... it is still repeating therefore it is irrational.

the value of √2 is non terminating non repeating decimal
that is 1.414 and so on
it repeats and when we add 2 to it then it becomes 3.414 and repata again
repeats*
hence it is also irrational
