The value of x is 12

  • First of all, the chemical formula of melamine is C₃H₆N₆.
  • There are 6 Nitrogen atom overall present in the molecule.
  • 3 of the 6 atoms are present in the 3-Carbon Nitrogen ring.
  • Each of them have 2 lone pairs in them.
  • Therefore, 3 N atoms have 6 lone pairs combined.Again, the molecule has 6 N-atoms overall.

So, x = Number of Localised lonepair + No. of Nitogen atoms present

= 6+6

12
