Acc to the question, X+N=29----------(i)  and X-N=11-----------(ii)

Adding eqn(i) and (ii) we get,

X + N + X - N = 29 + 11 = 40

or, 2X = 40

or, X = 20.

Now putting the value of X in eqn (i) we get, N = 9.
