(p + 1/p)^2 = p^2 + 1/p^2 +2 = x^2

(p - 1/p)^2= p^2 + 1/p^2 - 2 = y^2

Now

x⁴-2x²y² + y ⁴

(x^2 - y^2)^2

so

( p^2 + 1/p^2+2 - p^2 -q^2 +2)^2

4^2

Step-by-step explanation:

x4-2×2y2+y4

(×^2-^)^2

so

(p^2+1/p^2+2-q^2-p^2+2)^2

4×2

=16
