On Squaring both sides of the equation, we get

=> x²+1/x² + 2*x*1/x = 16

=> x²+1/x² + 2 = 16

=> x²+1/x² = 16-2

=> x²+1/x² = 14

Therefore,

x²+1/x² = 14
