\textsf{Given:}

\textsf{x varies inversely as y+5}

\implies\mathsf{x=k\;\frac{1}{y+5}}

\implies\mathsf{x=\frac{k}{y+5}}

\textsf{when x=10, y=1.5}

\mathsf{10=\frac{k}{1.5+5}}

\mathsf{10=\frac{k}{6.5}}

\implies\mathsf{\bf\,k=65}

\therefore\mathsf{x=\frac{65}{y+5}}

\textsf{Now}

\mathsf{when\;y=8,\;\;x=\frac{65}{8+5}}

\implies\mathsf{x=\frac{65}{13}}

\implies\mathsf{x=5}
