Given:

Three terms X, X+2, and X+6 are in G.P

To Find:

The value of X if the three terms are in G.P is?

Solution:

The given problem can be solved using the concepts of Geometric progression.

1. A sequence in which every element except the first element is obtained by multiplying the preceding number with a constant ratio is defined as Geometric Progression.

2. Let a, b, and c be three consecutive terms of a geometric progression then,

=> The relation between a, b, and c is b² = a*c.

3. Using the above relation the value of X can be found,

=> (X+2)² = (X+6)*X,

=> X² + 4 + 4X = X² + 6X, ( Simplify for value of X )

=> X² - X² + 6X - 4X = 4,

=> 2X = 4,

=> X = 2.

Therefore, the value of X is 2. The three terms are 2, 4, and 8.
