The two equations are : x+x+y=22 = 2x+y=22 (i)
y+y+x=20 = 2y+x=20 (ii)
From equation (i) we have,
2x+y=22
= y=22-2x
Putting this value in equation (ii) we get,
2y+x=20
= 2(22-2x)+x=20
= 44-4x+x=20
= -3x=20-44
= -3x=-24
= 3x=24
= x=24/3 = 8
Now,we know from equation (i),
2x+y=22
= 2x8+y=22
= 16+y=22
= y=22-16 = 6
Thus, x=8 and y=6
y+y+x=20 = 2y+x=20 (ii)
From equation (i) we have,
2x+y=22
= y=22-2x
Putting this value in equation (ii) we get,
2y+x=20
= 2(22-2x)+x=20
= 44-4x+x=20
= -3x=20-44
= -3x=-24
= 3x=24
= x=24/3 = 8
Now,we know from equation (i),
2x+y=22
= 2x8+y=22
= 16+y=22
= y=22-16 = 6
Thus, x=8 and y=6
