Answer:

X + y = 10 --------1

X - y. = 12----------2

solve using substitution method

X = 10 - y --------3

Substitute the value of X in eq. 2

10- y = 12

- y = 12 - 10

- y = 2

y =(- 2)

Substitute the value of y in eq. 3

X = 10 - y

X = 10 - (-2)

X= 10 + 2

X = 12

hence, the value of X = 12 and Y = (-2)

Given that,

  • x + y = 10
  • x - y = 12

Tip find,

  • Values of x & y.

Let,

➡ x + y = 10 ..... (1)

➡ x - y = 12 ..... (2)

  • Subtract (1) & (2). We get,

➠ 2x = 22

➠ x = 22/2

➠ x = 11

  • Substitute value of x in (1)

➠ 11 + y = 10

➠ y = 10 - 11

➠ y = - 1

Verification,

  • Substitute the values of x & y in (1), to get LHS = RHS

➠ 11 + (- 1)

➠ 11 - 1

➠ 10

Since, LHS = RHS.

Hence, it is verified.
