If x + y = 10 and x - y = 4 then what is y and x

Answer :

x = 7 , y = 3

Solution :

Here ,

The given equations are ;

x + y = 10 -------(1)

x - y = 4 --------(2)

Now ,

Adding eq-(1) and (2) , we get ;

=> x + y + x - y = 10 + 4

=> 2x = 14

=> x = 14/2

=> x = 7

Now ,

Putting x = 7 in eq-(1) , we get ;

=> x + y = 10

=> 7 + y = 10

=> y = 10 - 7

=> y = 3

Hence ,

x = 7 , y = 3
