x+y=12
xy=14

(x+y)²-2xy=x²+y²
(12)²-2x14=x²+y²

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Hey there!!

we have ,

xy = 14

x +y = 12

{(x + y)}^{2}  =  {12}^{2} (squaring \: both \: the \: side) \\  \\  =  >  {x }^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  + 2xy = 144 \\  \\  =  >  ({x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2} )  = 144 - 2 \times 14 \\ \\  =  >  {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  = 116

Hope this helps u !!
