x-25/4=12. x=12+25/4. x=48/4+25/4. x=73/4. now x+y=73/4+25/4. x=98/4

X - y = 12
(X- y)^2 = 12^2
X^2 + y^2 -2xy = 144
X^2 + y^2 = 144 + 2*25/4
X^2 + y^2 = 144 + 25/2
X^2 + y^2 = 313 / 2
(X + y)^2 - 2xy = 313/2
(X+y)^2 = 313 /2 + 2 * 25 /4
(X+y)^2 = 313/2 + 25/2
(X+y)^2 = 338/
(X+y)^2 = 169
Thus,
(X+ y) = + - 13.
