GIVEN,

  • x+y= 12
  • xy =3

  • TO FIND : the value of ( x²+ y²)

______________ SOLUTION:__________

As we know that ,

(x+y)² = x²+2xy+y².

=> (x+y)² = (x²+y²)+2xy

now , putting the values we get ,

12²= (x²+y²) + 2 × 3

=> 144 = (x²+y²)+ 6

=> (x²+y²)= 144-6

=> (x²+y²)= 138
