if x+y=12and xy =14 find the value of( x^2+y^2)

x+y = 12
(x+y)²=144
x²+y²+2xy=144 ______(1)

xy=14
2xy=28 _____(2)

subtracting equation (2) from (1)
x²+y²+2xy-2xy=144-28
x²+y²=116
