Step-by-step explanation:

squaring both sides we get

(x+y)² = (13)²

x²+y²+2xy = 169

putting value of xy as -14

x²+y²+2(-14)=169

x²+y²-28=169

x²+y²=197

to get x²+y² we can also write it as

(x+y)²-2xy = 197

adding -2xy on both sides we get,

(x+y)²- 4xy = 197-2xy

x²+y²+2xy-4xy = 197-2(-14)

x²+y²-2xy = 197 + 28

(x-y)² = 225

x-y = root225

x-y = 15

hope it helps.......
