x+y=13

xy=6

(x-y)²=x²+y²-2xy

(x+y)²=x²+y²+2xy

(13)²=x²+y²+12

x²+y²=169-12

x²+y²=157

now,

(x-y)²=x²+y²-2xy

(x-y)²=157-12

(x-y)²=145

x-y=√(145)
