if x+y=18 and x-y=2 find the value of x and Y

x+y=18--------------(1)
x-y=2-------------(2)
Adding eq 1 and 2
x+y=18
x-y=2
------------
2x=20
x=20/2
x=10
putting the value of x in eq2
10-y=2
10-2=y
y=8
x=10,y=8

as given that ,
x+y=18--(1)

x-y=2.. (2)

from (2)

x=2+y ..(3)

put the value of x in equation (1)
as it ,

2+y+y=18

2+2y=18

2(1+y)=18

1+y=18/2

1+y=9
y=9-1
y=8

now put value of y in equation (3)

x=2+y
x=2+8
x=10

so the value of x and y are 10 and8.
