x = 1 and  y = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

The given equations are:

x + y = 2                         ...... (1)

and 2x + y = 3                ...... (2)

To find, the values of x and y = ?

Subtracting equation (2) from (1), we get

2x + y - (x + y) = 3 - 2

⇒ 2x + y - x - y = 3 - 2

⇒ x = 1

Put x = 1 in equation (1), we get

1 + y = 2

⇒ y = 2 - 1 = 1

∴ x = 1 and  y = 1
