if x - y = 2 then point x, y is equidistant from 7, 1 and (3 , 5)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let say x - y = 2  and point  x, y is equidistant from 7, 1 and a , b

Then a , b will be the image of 7 , 1   along line x - y = 2

x = (7 + a)/2

=> 2x = 7 + a

y = (1 + b)/2

=> 2y = 1 + b

=> 2(x - 2) = 1 + b

=> 2x - 4 = 1 + b

=> 2x = b + 5

=> 7+a = b + 5

=> b = a + 2

Slope of x - y = 2

=> y = x - 2 is  1

Slope  of (a , b) & (7, 1) would be - 1

=> (b - 1)/(a - 7) = -1

=> b - 1 = 7 - a

=> b = 8 - a

a + 2 = 8 - a

=> 2a = 6

=> a = 3

b = 5

if x - y = 2 then point x, y is equidistant from 7, 1 and (3 , 5)
