substituting x = ( y - 24 ) in equation 2nd

( y - 24 ) × y = 100

2y - 24 = 100

2y = 124

y = 62

substituting y = 62 in equation 1st..

x + y = 24

x + 62 = 24

x = 62 - 24

x = 38

x² + y² = ?

= (38)² + (62)²

= 1,444 + 1384

= 5,288
