We have to find x - y .

x + y = 25

Squaring both side we get

x² + y² + 2 x y = 625 .. ( i )

x y = 100  [ Given ]

Multiply by 4

4 x y = 400  ( ii )

Subtracting 4 x y in ( i )

x² + y² + 2 x y - 4 x y = 625 - 400

x² + y² - 2 x y = 225

Using identity :

( a - b )²  = a²  + b²  - 2 a b

( x - y )²  = 225

( x - y )²  = 15²

x - y = 15

Hence we get answer 15 .
