If x+y=2y-x+1=5, find the value of x.
Pls I need a well explained solution.

x +y = 2y -x +1 = 5

=> x+y = 5

=> x = 5-y ....(i)

also

2y -x +1 = 5

=> x = 2y -4 ....(ii)

From (i) and (ii)

x= 5-y=2y -4

=> 5-y=2y -4

=> 3y = 9

=> y = 3

and x = y-5 = 2

=> x = 2
